A New Beginning!
So Sorry!!

Hi everyone! I'm really sorry it's taken me so long to get another post out! I have this really weird thing about not posting about stuff until I have something completed, but I've been working on so many things at once recently that nothings been done!

But anyway, what've I been up to?

Shader Sandwich

Well, first off Shader Sandwich V1.2 went up a month ago, so that was cool. I decided to take a three week break (turned into a month) so I could work on my other projects more steadily.

However, I feel like I should stop neglecting it so much so for the next few weeks I'll work on getting V1.3 out :D. Not sure what features I'll add yet, but I've got a bunch of bugs that need fixed XD.

I'm also planning on releasing a ton more quick tips (they are really easy to make), and a few longer tutorials. Not sure how quickly the longer tutorials will come out though, due to...

The Wolf's Lens BTS!

I've been working on this on and off for a few weeks now, and it's finally done! It's a 20 minute long VLog where I talk about how The Wolf's Lens was filmed, how the VFX was done and the many problems we had along the way :). It's reasonably entertaining, however editing it has destroyed me so I'm going to focus on shorter videos for a bit.

Those short films...

The short films I posted about probably won't be happening, as we've come up with a really good idea for a web series. So we're deciding to focus on that instead. With that said, I did post a tiny video that I made a while ago to help ease the wait for the new ones :)

Web series?

I don't want to post too much about it, in case it ends up in development hell like everything I make, but I can give a brief overview. A group of teenagers steal a book that contains the order in which people die. The series follows how they deal with the ethical consequences of such a book and it effects their lives, while trying to uncover its secrets. In theory each episode will be 30mins, and there'll be at least 3 or something.

I've been writing up the pilot episode over the past week and it's coming along well, and I've gotten tons of great input from the rest of the group :D.

Terrible Play

I was also part of a horrible play (the villain actually), so I've spent a bunch of time remembering lines and whatnot. But it's over! So that's nice XD.

So yeah...

So yup, that's what I've been up to. I've probably missed a few things, but if so I'll cover them in the next post (which hopefully won't take a month!!!).

Ok, thanks for reading. Bye!

Shader Sandwich V1.2!
9 years ago - Sean Boettger (Spike1)
Hoi everyone!
I've submitted Shader Sandwich V1.2 to the Unity team, so it should be out within the next week or so :). It's got a ton of new features, here's a video I made showing some of them:

And here's a full list:
Added:
Grab/Depth Pass
Custom Lighting Support
3 New Noise Types
4 New Effects
RGBA Masks
Improved Responsiveness and Interface
Added 2 More Example Shaders
And Unity 4 and Unity 5.2 Support

Yay! :D

Not much else to report, other than Happy Halloween! I was planning on making a Halloween version of the site, but ran out of time :(. I'll definitely do one for Christmas. Halloween was fun though, I watched Cabin in the Woods and carved a Jack-O'-Lantern:

I've got a few projects planned, including two short films and more Shader Sandwich Tutorials, not sure which will come to fruition first. Here's an image from one of the shorts though:

We'll see if I finish it XD.

Ok, I'll give y'all an update in a week :). Thanks for reading!

The Wolf's Lens Breakdown Video + SS Tutorials + Charlie's Rainy Day!
9 years ago - Sean Boettger (Spike1)
Hello again!

I finished the VFX Breakdown video for The Wolf's Lens, so if you're interested in a very brief overview of how I did the visual effects for it then check it out!

The final beginner tutorial is also now in video form, so you can see that below or in the Shader Sandwich Manual :)

I'm going to post a new tutorial every few days for the next two weeks, and after that I'll get to work on the program itself. Some of the tutorials planned are: Tessellated Fur, Shell Fur, Ocean, Skin and procedural wood. I've also already added a very small feature to Shader Sandwich, which is smoother navigation within the preview window. It's not particularly important but it still feels much more intuitive and interactive :).

So, Charlie's Rainy Day. It's been a while since I've talked about this, sorry to anyone who's actually interested in it XD. Anyway, it's still going to happen, but in a slightly different form. I'm just going to make a 10 min short film out of it.

The reason for this is that SOMA (a new horror game from Frictional Games) actually managed to cover a bunch of what Charlie's Rainy Day was going to, and there's not much point in me re-treading over such a masterfully told story as SOMA. So instead I'm going to alter the plot to be wholly unrecognizable and just make a short film out of it :). It's definitely going to be on the back burner though since I have so many other more important and more interesting things going on. It will be completed eventually though, I promise :).

Thanks for reading!
